If you’ve completed the beginner course in British Sign Language, you can progress to Certificate in British Sign Language – Level 2. Whether you work or teach children or adults who are deaf or you want to learn BSL because of your own hearing problems, or you have a deep interest in sign language, this is a good place to start. The course will explore a series of topics through a training video teaching you how to use sign language appropriately, and in the right context. You will learn to express views and opinions on everyday conversations ranging from people to animals, travel and even feelings. The Level 2 course in British Sign Language will be useful to professionals who aspire to work with people in the D/deaf community.

Certificate in British Sign Language – Level 2 will introduce the basic fundamentals of British sign language, and through this video training, you will learn the grammar and vocabulary extensively. Additionally, you will learn sign language to express conversations on time, shopping, spending, travel, leisure activities and health.

If you aspire to or already work in this field, the intermediate course in British Sign Language ticks all of the right boxes. If you want to become fluent in sign language, this is special training that will get you started on the right track. The course is practical and aims to enhance your proficiency at using British sign language, in order to develop your understanding of it.

The course is delivered through a system that you will have access to 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and for 365 days (12 months). As this is an online course, you have no set timetable and can study at your own pace. Move through the modules as fast or slow as you wish, and return to previous sections at any point.

  • This course is suitable for anyone interested in learning British Sign Language. However, individuals aspiring to work with D/deaf people or parents who have children with hearing or speech impairment might find this course massively benefiting.
  • Professionals that are already working with the D/deaf community can also use this course as a stepping stone for career progression.
  • Learners should be age 19 or over, and must have a basic understanding of Maths, English, and ICT.
  • A qualification at level 1 or above in any discipline.

This online course is assignment-based with learners being assessed upon the submission of a series of assignments. Once you successfully submit the assignments, students will gain an academic certification. The assignments must be submitted to the instructor through the online learning portal. The assignments will be reviewed and evaluated, with feedback provided to the student on how well they have fared. 

Those who successfully complete the course will be issued the British Sign Language at QLS Level 2 by the Quality Licence Scheme.
