The ketogenic diet (or keto diet) is a low carb, high fat diet that offers many health benefits. A healthy ketogenic diet is made up of about 75% fat, 10-30% protein and no more than 5% or 20 to 50 grams of carbs per day. It entails drastically lowering carbohydrate consumption and replacing it with fat. This carbohydrate restriction puts your body into a metabolic state known as ketosis.
